What equipment will your presenter(s) need?
We use PowerPoint as part of our presentations. Either you are able to provide projectors or interactive whiteboards with a computer, or our presenters are able to provide their own setup. Please call us to make arrangements. Each presenter will also require a flipchart with flipchart paper and a CD player.
What is the maximum number of students permitted in a presenter's group?
40, provided that appropriate accommodation can be found for this number.
How should the furniture be laid out?
Tables and chairs should be arranged in a "U" shape (see pictures of our seminars in our photos section).
Can references from other schools be provided?
You can find many current references on the praise page. We would be delighted to compile you a list of schools specifically in your area, complete with their evaluation of their experience of us.
Do Learning Performance provide students with any resource material?
Yes, we ask you to photocopy a student manual from a 'master copy' that we will send you. You should photocopy one for each student attending the seminar. The aim is that at the end of each seminar the student takes away their own personal reference book on how they learn and which strategies they will use as they prepare for their next exam.
Do Learning Performance provide a certificate for students' record of achievement folders?
Yes. These are downloadable from our website upon completion of the workshop.
Do Learning Performance ask for a deposit payment?
No.
How many workshops did Learning Performance present last academic year (2006-07)?
2,199.
If we choose to collapse the curriculum for the day for a year group can you send more than one presenter?
Yes, very easily. We are the largest provider of study skills in the UK and have an exceptionally large number of trained presenters working for us. The largest project undertaken was with Eccles College in Manchester with 29 of our presenters all working there on one day. Needless to say we have a discount system for all booking requiring more than four presenters on one day.
What is the role of teaching staff on the day?
Two members of staff are required to sit with each presentation group for health and safety reasons. They can help with discipline and with pupils who have learning difficulties. If a teacher can accompany a presentation group for the whole day then they will benefit from being aware of what the pupils have learned and can utilise it in their teaching and, most importantly, encourage the pupils to apply their newly learned skills.
