Study Skills with a Subject Specific Focus - Programme 7

Tarbert Academy, Argyll

"Clearly, one could attribute the improvement in results to a variety of factors. It is a fact however, that last session we in Tarbert Academy only did two things differently: Moved the Standard Grade prelims (mocks) to an earlier date and hired Learning Performance to address our S4-S6 pupils."
This course works on the simple basis of presenting one of our study skills seminars, with a session in the afternoon that applies what students have learned directly to a subject's materials.

We will liaise with the appropriate department regarding the choice of material. For example if students have been studying a novel, play or poem in their English Literature course, our presenter will perform a scene from the literature being studied and then demonstrate a range of study skills that can be applied to the material.

Students will discover how to understand and gain more insight into their subject, making the learning process more fun and rewarding.
